Winter Hair Styles

winter hairstyles

The hairstyles for winter 2009 by Schwarzkopf have been formulated after keeping in mind the collections at the Paris and Berlin Fashion Weeks. Setting of Indian hairstyles as per international standards.

These styles have been classified into four broad categories, all these are different divisions that are meant for different types of women and we can only decide on the hairstyles after gauging the personality. Return of style Eighties luxe sees the revival of one of the most stylish decades, the hairstyles are sexy and fashionable. Metallic and jewel tones are a dominant feature in these styles. In fact the geometric shapes of precious stones have been used as the inspiration for these styles. The roundish bob is one of the most popular styles here and the fringe too makes an appearance. While talking about colours, the main ones used here are rich, dark browns which have glossy finish.
Nostalgic romance go a little further down memory lane with 40s romance, this was an era where women were at their feminine and romantic best. Therefore, these hairstyles are all about soft lines, waves and elegance. A main feature here is the side partings and curls. Styles like the French knot, chignon, soft curls are a prominent aspect here. The fringe here is delicate and understated. Colours in this category are soft ones like a blonde or a burgundy.
Asymmetry rules .The `Out of shape' set of hairstyles are those that have sharp features like multi-layering with a lot of depth. Styles like the punk and find their origins in this category. Taking a cue from this the styles are marked by asymmetrical lengths, sharp lines, contrasts, drama. As far as the colours go, it's all about making an impact and the best tool to use is contrast , so two-tone blondes, ash and platinum highlights. These styles are not something anyone can carry off, the woman needs attitude and loads of it, to pull this off.
Deep, dark and mysterious The last category, the `Dark Amazons,' is all about creating that deep and mysterious aura.
Women who are always in control, strong, sexy and dominating, have what it takes to sport these styles as the cuts are very pronounced with razored edges, sharp fringes, etc. Futuristic angles and lines are another major feature. Even though jet black is the most prominently used colour here, tones like midnight blue or royal purple is used to enhance the style.

Winged Eyes

Winged eyes is a look that has most often been associated with dancers and the like. But this traditional trend is making a comeback of sorts on the international scene, especially with Amy Winehouse whose elaborately done winged eyes have become a style statement.

Closer home, the hot and sultry actress Bipasha Basu is known to carry off this style with elan. The winged eye look was also featured prominently during the recent fashion weeks.
"Getting this look is very simple -- all you need is a very good eye liner and a brush. Just apply it like you normally do but when you reach the end of the outer eyelid just elongate it a little to create an extension .Another variant of this trend is to use a dark eyeshadow to enhance the look. "In fact using eyeshadows in tones like a charcoal grey or a midnight blue works well. Give yourself Smokey eyes and take this one step further by creating the `wings' by dragging the line outwards towards your temple.

"Using eye shadows is a better option as it's better-suited for Indian skin tones and gives a very soft and polished look that is perfect for any occasion."

Style Statements For This Wedding Season

From the Jodhaa-Akbar attire to the temple wedding avatar, brides and grooms are making style statements this wedding season.

The theme party trend has finally trickled down to the most traditional of all weddings. This season, try and spot the avatar-of choice for bride or groom -is that a Jodha-Akbar tribute or `Gandharva' chic or maybe they're playing `Maharajas'?
And it's not just the brides and grooms, but their entire families who get into theme attire that is then `matched' with the décor of the reception area.

"Young brides and bridegrooms are going for the Jodha-Akbar look or the temple style attire. Brides are going back to tradition with a little fusion and grooms are dressing up in opulent Maharaja style with the scarf and other accessories. Earlier the couple would select their wedding attire in such a way that they can wear it later too. But this wedding season, fusion are the `in' themes."

bride and groomInterestingly, the Khaja coat and mana sampradaya pancha kattu dhoti are making a  comeback with grooms and their male relatives.
Designer Shravani includes several young bridegrooms, agrees that there is a `back to basics' trend. This wedding season, the Khaja coat with a pancha or a dhoti is a popular theme. Brides and bridegrooms are particular about dressing up in `Avadhi' or `Gandharva' style.

Young men are getting as fussy about their hair and accessories as traditional `bride right down to make-up! . For the hair style, it is the European bridegroom look and the prince look that are in demand. The colour scheme of the stage and decorations were also co-ordinated.

The time-honoured poola jada, flowers in the bride's hair, has now been replaced by heavy, traditional gold jewellery including the gold-studded kutchulu.

"Brides these days are well read and know for sure what is in fashion and what is not. They also want to get back to their roots, in lots of ways. They are fusing fashion and tradition. Elders in the family are confined to suggestions only. It's the young brides and grooms who take the call on what to wear and hence theme weddings are getting popular.

Braids Or Even Plaits To Beat Winter Hair Worries

Sometimes when you have a bad hair day all you can do is grin and bear it. But always best to take advantage of the situation and one of the ways to stay in style this season is by flaunting the latest trend -- braids or even plaits as they are more commonly known as. "This style is convenient and lasts all day, so you don't have to keep running to the powder room to keep it in place.
And we're not talking about the usual, thick braid rather it's time to experiment a little and try something like a French plait or a fish tail braid.
Both these require some time and patience but the elegant, no-nonsense style is worth it."

This trend has become such a rage that it has been spotted on runways and even international celebs have been sporting variations of the braid on numerous occasions. "Sienna Miller and Cheryl Cole have been spotting wearing different kinds of braids, it's a very simple style but by using some serum or hair gel to keep it in place the style is taken to a whole new level. One can also use accessories like mini combs and jeweled clips to add some jazz.

Sequinned Jeans

08_11_2009_105_004_023 When former Gucci designer and a certified hottie, Tom Ford, made a sequinned pair of jeans for a cool $3,500 some years back, it was lapped up by none other than his ardent follower Gwyneth Paltrow. Once again, the embellished jean is back and is wooing fashionistas like never before, much like French Connection's embellished back pocket jean or the black cotton washed jeans from Balmain, with all-over Swarovski crystal embellishment.

Embellishments look good mainly on skinny jeans and warns that it shouldn't be over done though. "If one has slightly bigger hips, avoid the embellishments around the hip area.
They can use them on the bottom, near the ankle," she adds.

"To add a formal touch to your jeans, you can opt for embellishments. It adds the glamorous bling factor and makes your jeans very stylish and chic."

Despite the cost of Balmain jeans, which are ripped and hand-embellished for £1,000, there is no stopping celebrities who are rushing to grab their favourite pair, this season. "Embellishments on denims continue to evolve with designs and treatments. Metal hardware like studs, rivets and chunky zippers are being increasingly used to style the fashion denims. Craft elements including contrast fabric patches, lurex details and multicolour thread embroidery have become quite popular as denim embellishments among youth. These coupled with treatments on denims, like special washes have been used extensively by Wrangler. Moving beyond functionality, experiments with crystals on its girls' denims for party wear. At the retail level, these styles are highlighted by equally innovative hangtags, which are printed and cut using high precision lasers. And for those of you who can't do without the bling, Ed Hardy's jaguar embroidered and rhinestone-embellished jeans are just up your street.
